      <title>Having a server rack at home</title>

      <description>

            A couple of years ago I bought a server rack cabinet to have at home in my apartment. The idea was that the rack would help me get rid of the mess of cables and unsound open server chassis I had at the time.
I bought the rack and learned a lot about how to build server racks.
It didn&#39;t solve any of my problems though. In fact, since the rack didn&#39;t actually fit very well in the space I had available in our appartment, the mess only increased, and made it harder to service my equipment.

      <description>

            Im sorry to say that Fedora 22 on Microsoft Surface Pro 2 exhibits many regressions as compared to Fedora 21 on the same hardware.
I have a dual boot setup so I can boot between the two versions and compare.
Heres the regressions I have found so far.
I can&#39;t get the Marvell wifi chipset to work. This was problematic with Fedora 21 as well, but there I could replace the distributed firmware with firmware from the Marvell kernel git repository, and make wifi function.

      <description>

            After having used Fedora on the MS Surface pro 2 for a couple of months, I have some gripes with it.
It works mostly okay, but the battery behaves weirdly. Sometimes the charging level is not reported properly, and then the machine tends to shut down randomly.
So perhaps this was fixed in a UEFI bios upgrade Microsoft provided, but how does one upgrade the UEFI bios if one doesnt run Windows on the machine?

      <description>

            I got a new 4K display the other day, a Samsung 28&amp;quot; 4K LED 28D590D.
The screen is big as a barn, and has amazing 3840 x 2160 native resolution!
I use the screen with my Surface Pro 2 running Fedora, and of course I had issues getting the thing to work.
First of all I needes to set the screen to Displayport version 1.1 instead of 1.2, otherwise the screen is just black.

            My current smartphone is so unreliable now I need to fall back to a dumbphone.
Rather than running out to buy a new smartphone, I will log here what it feels like with a dumbphone. I will do this to see what I really need, and I dont want to fork out 5 kkr on a phone that is obsolete before i even get it.
First of all, reliability is outstanding with a dumbphone.

            I&#39;ve bought some new work equipment for 2014. A MS Surface Pro running Fedora and an Ergodox keyboard. The idea is that I more or less never want to change the keyboard, but the computer part more often.
So far I&#39;m making progress, but I&#39;m still not as produktive with my new setup as with my old trusty Thinkpad.
The Ergodox is pretty amazing. You order a set of parts and solder them together, and suddenly you have a working keybard!
